FAQ

1

How long from when I enquire can I expect my service to start?

As soon as you have agreed to the care package and signed the contract we will place your care team. When you are ready we will agree with you a date to start the service.

2

Will I have the same carer that attends to me?

Your team will be made up of a primary carer and secondary carer and a third carer so there is someone that can step in case of an absence or emergency. You will also have the benefit of a Care Manager that will oversee your care and the team that we have placed with you.

3

Can I change my care package during the contracted period?

Your contracted hours are agreed with you prior to starting the care service, we will review your care very month to check we are meeting your needs correctly. If the review proves that your care needs to be increased or changed in anyway we will discuss this with you or the person responsible and make the necessary changes.
If you want to decrease your hours, you will need to wait until your contract expires or discuss altering your contract type with your Care Manager

4

Is nursing included in my care service?

No, nursing care is not included automatically however, we will discuss your medical care requirements before joining us and during your review periods so you can decide if you wish to add this service.

5

Can I hire equipment from you?

Yes, we have a large selection of supportive equipment such as hospital beds, commodes, hoists, turntables, walkers and frames and bathing equipment for hire. We will discuss your needs at the initial assessment and advise you on equipment that may make things a little easier for you however, we also rent our equipment to people that aren’t using our care services and source equipment for you to buy if you feel this would be a more cost effective option.

6

Can I pay for my care via credit card?

Yes, we accept all major credit cards and can process your payment via PayPal or using our card machine in the office.

7

Can I claim my care back through my insurance company?

It is unlikely that your health insurance will cover long term social care at home however, it is not unheard of. We advise you to contact your insurance company for advice and information on what your policy covers.
If you have gad an accident and require our support, your travel insurance is very likely to cover any emergency care requirements and we can assist you with this, please feel free talk to us about this.

8

Can someone else manage my care?

Yes, often this is the case if you are not able to manage your daily living tasks or are impaired and rely on the support of another person to conduct your administration for you.
We are happy to discuss this with you or your nominated responsible person at the time of signing the contract or during your review session.

9

Do you offer care to people that live outside of the Algarve?

We are happy to offer our service where we have the resources to do so. If you live outside of the Algarve please contact us so we can discuss your requirements and decide if we can help you where you live or are based.

10

Do I have to pay if my carer takes me out of my home to travel somewhere?

Yes, if you are travelling by public transport you will need to cover the cost of both yourself and your carer. If the carer uses their own vehicle, we charge you for the journey based on the kilometres travelled, if they use your vehicle then you don’t pay anything you just have to ensure that the vehicle you are travelling in is in good repair and that we have written authority for the carer to use it solely for the purpose of assisting you. More information on this can be found in your terms and conditions.

11

What happens if I die during my contracted period?

The person responsible for your affairs will receive a refund for the remaining care period of your contract within 90 days.

12

Can I cancel my contract prior to its end date?

For a scheduled care package our minimum contracted period is 3 months. If you want to cancel your contract during this time you must give us a minimum of 2 weeks notice prior to the date you wish your visits to cease however, we do not offer refunds on your remaining contracted period.

13

Can I suspend my care during the contracted period?

In cases such as unplanned hospitalisation, during the first 10 days of your suspended period we will still charge you for your scheduled care in order for us to keep your team in place for when you return home. However, after the 10th day your care package will be suspended and no further charges will be made until care resumes.
If you are planning a holiday and are able to give us adequate notice then we are happy to discuss and agree an arrangement that will allow for this.
